Creating a simple List View in Custom Reporting using Timecodes

Start with a simple, single-entity report, you’ll gain familiarity with the data model, explore available attributes, and build the foundation for using more advanced custom reporting.

List or Directory views are the simplest way to work with information within Projectworks; we have a number of them embedded in the product. These views are the simplest ways to report on information as they are based off only one entity within the Projectworks data model, like “project” for example. You can use custom reporting to easily generate simple List views of our key reporting views

Creating lists is one of the most simple and straightforward processes in the custom reporting space - so its a great gateway to building confidence with both the Projectworks data model and the custom report builder interface.

List views

Views are essentially pre-built tables of Objects with their relevant attributes as columns, as you get to know Projectworks you will become more familiar with the attributes for each object.

For example, while using Projectworks you will pick up the more basic attributes of Projects; every Project must have a Project Name, Company, Project Manager, a contractual status etc, these are all attributes that appear as columns in the Projects View. You may also start to familiarise yourself with the more nuanced attributes of a Projects which are less common in the UI but useful from a reporting perspective (e.g Status ID, ScheduleProgress).

A view is a table that contains all the information that you see on the related screens in Projectworks. Using custom reporting to look at a view is the simplest way to get started viewing your data.

7. Click Timecode
8. Click the Preview button, at the end of the blue Data line. This will reveal a sample of all the columns that this view contains.
