Managing People Attributes
Why do we need attributes
When creating a user, you must assign key attributes that Projectworks defines for a person. These key attributes—such as position, team, location, and holiday calendar—are essential for setting up users correctly in your Projectworks environment.
When creating a new user, you must assign these key attributes. If a required attribute (e.g., a new position, team, location, or holiday calendar) doesn't already exist in your environment, you’ll need to create it before completing the user setup. The same applies when updating an existing user’s information.
Key attributes are used throughout your environment to reflect important user details, such as their role or which holidays apply to them. This guide will show you where to create, edit, and manage these attributes.
Positions and Ranks
Navigation > System Settings > Users > Positions / Ranks
Positions are crucial when setting up personnel and are utilized in various ways within Projectworks. A position might differ from an individual’s job title, often being more general and role-based.
Teams
Navigation > System Settings > Users > Teams
A mandatory attribute for a person's posting is their team. Teams represent the structure of your organisation and typically align with your organizational chart, although this isn't strictly necessary.
Locations
Navigation - System Settings > Settings > Locations
Another important attribute for a person’s posting is their location. Many screens can be filtered or grouped by location, making it easier to monitor timesheets by filtering the All Timesheets screen.
If your system has only one location, you won’t need to enter it, as it will automatically default for each user.
Holiday Calendars
Navigation - System Settings > Settings > Holidays
Holiday calendars are set up to manage holidays (non-working days) in specific regions or countries. Individuals can be assigned to a holiday calendar to track which working days are holidays for them, simplifying resource management and ensuring accurate utilization measurement.
Once these key attributes are configured you can either create a new user or adjust an existing users posting if their position or location for example has changed, you can click on one of the below links depending on your requirements.
